Professor is sick! (he’s one of my cats)

I went away with Mom on a trip the past weekend and I PROMISE everybody I am going to tell you all about it.  But Mom and I have been worried about Professor.

He is very sick and Mom drove him to West Virginia for something called a blood transfusion.  He had to spend the night in the hospital.

He has something called FeLV and Mom said he lost all his red blood cells while we were gone.  I don’t know how he lost them.  He doesn’t go outside.  Maybe I should sniff around the house to see if I can find them for him.

Mom made the house really stinky while he was gone yesterday.  She said she had to bleach the whole room he is staying in for when he got back in case he had an infection.  Mom is very sad and doesn’t know what she can do to help him.

I am writing my best without her and will post soon about our trip!

An Interview with Snicker

Sammie is here at her favorite store,
Muddy Paws
Located at 616 W. Main Street
Mount Pleasant, PA 15666

We are about to go in to interview someone who works here,

                                      Snicker!

Snicker is the four legged owner and resident doorman of the establishment.

We will be talking with him and his Mom, Melissa!  (She’s as bad as my Mom about appearing on camera but she loves her store and is happy to let us come in to talk to Snicker and her about it.)

Let’s start the interview!

Sammie: So Snicker…you are a working dog. You come to the store every day.  What’s it like to have a job?

Snicker: There’s lots of excitement. People come in to be barked at all the time!

Sam: You get to meet a lot of dogs. Do you get a treat like that every time?

Snick: I try to!

Sammie: Here, let me get us another treat!
Sammie:  Hi, Melissa!
I’m shopping!  Got any treats?

Snick: See!  Thank you Sammie!

Sam: No problem!  My mom says you bark at her when she comes in without me. I want to thank you for yelling at her!  She’s supposed to take me everywhere.

Do you mind me asking what your mom feeds you?

Snick: Not at all!  I eat a raw diet.

Sam: Raw diet? There’s that word diet again.  You got to go?

Snick:  Go where?

Sam: Nevermind. Nobody knows where it is anyway. What is “raw”?

Snicker:  My mom says raw means its got all the good natural stuff like meat and bone and vegetables, with no additives like sugars and carbohydrates, and none of the vitamins are processed out by cooking.  She sells some frozen and some freeze dried on the shelf so that it is easier for our customers to feed their fur-kids.  She says a lot of people don’t have time to deal with the mess of getting meat from the butcher shop and trying to portion it out.  The stuff she sells is nutritionally complete for us without the fuss.

Sam:  You have a cat here too! I know because I’ve snuck behind the counter and stole some of his food on occasion. Is that what I stole from back there behind the counter? Raw food?

Snick: Yep. Dubsy eats a raw diet too. He used to be

fat before he started eating that.

Dubsy: There are dogs.  In my store.  Talking about me.  Calling me fat.
Like I’m not the owner of this place.
AHEM!  Dogs?  I can speak for myself.  I eat a raw diet and cat nip too. Don’t forget catnip!

We have a whole shelf of cat nip and we help out homeless kitties with sales of cat nip toys!

Check it out!

Snick: That cat. Always has something to interject.

Mom, please make him stop.
This is my interview.

Sam: My mom said that when I moved in with her for good, your mom helped her pick out the food I eat now. Does your mom help other dogs’ moms pick out the right food for them?

Snick: Yes she helps everybody who comes in!  Can I ask her something for you about what you eat?

Sam:  What’s wrong with the food I was eating before?  It was pretty good.

Snick: My Mom says it’s full of carbs and sugars and they aren’t good for us.  She also said that your Mom told her your eyes always got all red and bloodshot so she recommended a food without wheat/grains because you might have an allergy.  Then, because you were too fat, your Mom came back in and my Mom helped her pick out a lower calorie food for weight management.

Sam:  I really wish
people would stop
talking about me being
fat.
I was never fat.

Sam: Anyway, so what’s in this food and how does your mom know?

Snick: She reads lots of stuff online about the ingredients and chooses the best she can for our customers!  She knows tons.  For instance, she keeps up on which of the smaller dog food companies sell out to the commercial interests.   And she watches the recall lists very carefully.

Sam:  Do you guys do anything besides food and treats?

Snick:  Yes!  My mom and I carry a range of supplements.  For instance, we have glucosamine treats and some other joint care supplements for doggies who don’t tolerate it well.  There are several ways you can care for aging pups with soreness and stiffness naturally to avoid relying on prescription anti-inflammatories which are bad for our organs.  We also have TOYS!  And leashes and collars.  Everything you could ask for!

Sammie:  Wow!  Snicker and his Mom really care about their customers and they have a wonderful store!  (My Mom and I come here all the time.)

Snicker:  Leashed pets are always welcome!

Snicker:  Here is our business card.  I don’t know why my name isn’t on it.

Sam: Thank you for the interview, Snicker! Thank you too for talking with us, Melissa!

Mom and I shop at Muddy Paws all the time.  We get our food from Snicker and Melissa because we know they only sell good quality food from quality distributors.  Mom has gotten food from online retailers before and it wasn’t the freshest it could be.  Sometimes you just don’t know how long the food sits in their warehouse or what the temperature of their warehouse is!  It can go bad.  Plus we like to buy local and support business in our town.

Coming Soon-An Interview!

This is me shopping at my favorite store, MUDDY PAWS!

I picked that out myself!

Mom and I will be interviewing Snicker, the dog who owns the store!

Mom says Melissa owns the store but Snicker really owns it.  He told me so.  We will talk to him about what it’s like to be a working dog and we might even let Melissa tell us some stuff about eating healthy food.  Mom thinks she might know a few things Snicker doesn’t but I’m sure Snicker knows everything there is to know about the products they sell.
